Built for long working days

Adjustable headrest

Height and angle both adjust, so the headrest meets your neck instead of pushing your head forward.

Lumbar support that moves

5 cm (2″) of height adjustment. Set it to your lower back rather than hoping the chair happens to fit.

Reclining mesh back

Lean back and lock the backrest between 90° and 120°. Focus upright, relax reclined.

Features

Breathable mesh back

Breathable mesh backrest keeps the air moving — even in summer.

Height-adjustable lumbar support

Every M3 comes with a lumbar support that adjusts 5 cm (2″) in height, so it sits where your back actually needs it.

Height-adjustable seat

The seat moves 10 cm (4″) in height, between 48.5 and 58.5 cm (19.1″–23.0″) — adjust it to your body, not your desk.

Adjustable headrest

On every M3 the headrest adjusts in height (11 cm / 4.3″) and angle — comfortable thanks to the breathable mesh.

Synchronised tilt with reclining backrest

Seat and backrest move together as you lean back, with the tension set to your body weight. On the Comfort the backrest locks in four positions between 90° and 120°.

Height-adjustable armrests

2D armrests with soft PU pads, height-adjustable on both configurations.

Frequently asked questions about the VALKENSTOL M3

Answers to what we get asked most about this model. If your question isn’t here, email us at info@valkenstol.de — we usually reply within one working day.

Is the VALKENSTOL M3 a good ergonomic office chair for a home office?
For a home office with 6–10 hours of daily use, look for a height-adjustable lumbar support, a breathable mesh back, a synchronised tilt mechanism and at least a class 4 gas lift. The M3 has all four, and adds an adjustable headrest that most chairs in this class leave out.
Which office chair is good for back pain?
What matters most is a height-adjustable lumbar support that follows the natural S-curve of your spine, plus a backrest you can lock in more than one position. The M3 offers both — the Comfort configuration adds seat depth adjustment on top. Please note: this is general information, not a medical diagnosis. If your pain persists, see a doctor or physiotherapist.
What height and weight is the M3 designed for?
The M3 is designed for users between roughly 1.60 m and 1.90 m (5’3″–6’3″) and a recommended user weight of up to 120 kg (265 lbs); the maximum load capacity is 150 kg (330 lbs). Seat height adjusts between 48.5 and 58.5 cm (19.1″–23.0″).
What’s the difference between M3 Classic and M3 Comfort?
The Classic has 2D armrests and a backrest that locks in one position — a solid all-rounder for a home office. The Comfort adds 5 cm (2″) of seat depth adjustment and a backrest that locks in four positions, which pays off if you sit for eight hours or more.
Does the VALKENSTOL M3 have lumbar support and a mesh back?
Yes. The M3 has a lumbar support with 5 cm (2″) of height adjustment, so you can set it to your own lower back. The backrest is an ergonomically shaped mesh back that reclines between 90° and 120°.
Does the M3 arrive assembled?
The M3 arrives part-assembled. You fit the base, gas lift, seat and backrest yourself — about 10–15 minutes, no special tools needed. Step-by-step instructions are in the box.
Where can I buy the VALKENSTOL M3 in the UK?
On Amazon.co.uk. Both configurations on this page link to their own listing. Amazon handles the sale, delivery and returns — you’ll find current price, delivery times and return conditions there.

VALKENSTOL M3 — the all-rounder with a bit of design to it

The M3 is the model people pick when they want ergonomics that hold up over a full working day without the chair announcing itself in the room. Two configurations, same design, different levels of adjustment.

What makes a good office chair for a full working day?

Eight hours in one chair exposes everything it gets wrong. The M3 covers the parts that matter: a lumbar support you can set to your own back, a headrest that adjusts in height and angle, a synchronised tilt mechanism with tension adjustment, a mesh back that reclines and locks, and a moulded foam seat that keeps its shape instead of flattening after six months.

Who is the M3 for?

Designed for people between roughly 1.60 m and 1.90 m (5’3″–6’3″) with a recommended user weight of up to 120 kg (265 lbs); maximum load capacity is 150 kg (330 lbs). Built for full-time desk work with 8 hours or more of sitting a day.

Classic or Comfort?

The Classic covers the ergonomic basics — 2D armrests, height-adjustable lumbar support, backrest locking in one position. The Comfort adds 5 cm (2″) of seat depth adjustment and a four-position backrest. Pick by how long you sit, and how much you like adjusting things.

Who we are

VALKENSTOL is a design studio for ergonomic office chairs based in Munich, founded by Dr Stephan Braun because he couldn’t find a decent chair himself. Our chairs are designed in Munich and shipped from Germany.
